The PCC held a Press Day on 28 February to formally announce the award of funds by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to permit urgent repairs the to be made to St Swithun's Church. These works commenced on 4 March, and by the end of March the scaffolding and temporary roof had been erected around the Chancel and its lead roof removed. During the month of April the Chancel roof beams will be repaired and a new roof fitted.
Thereafter, over the following 10 weeks, the drainage around the Church will be improved, and repairs will be made to the internal and external walls. Currently the project works are due to be completed by early August.
If all goes to plan, the PCC aim to take part in the Heritage Lincolnshire Open Day weekend on 13, 14 and 15 September. The central part of their planning for the event being a large Flower Display with the theme 'All Creatures Great and Small'.
